Mike Bowman | Council Member
Professor Mike Bowman is an Honorary Professor in the School of Earth & Environmental Sciences at the University of Manchester. Between 2015-17 he was the Chair of the Petroleum Engineering Programme at Texas A&M University, Qatar. He retired from BP in March 2011 after 30+ years; at his retirement he was BP’s Functional and Global Head of Geoscience and also Vice President for Major Capital Projects/New Field Development Appraisal. In 2012 he was the President of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain, an eminent group with a membership of over 5500. He is also a Fellow of the Geological Society. At his retirement he was given a Professorial Chair in Geology at the University of Manchester. In addition to his academic roles at Qatar and Manchester, Mike is a non-executive Director for Radioactive Waste Management UK PLC and Capitaine Energy as well as a trustee for the Yorkshire Geological Society in the UK. He also advises and consults for several energy companies, teaching groups and investors as well as teaching external courses and giving lectures on a range of geology related topics and the energy Industry.
