Virtual geology………updated!

We hope you are enjoying our refreshed YGS website! To celebrate, we have launched some new online content including Virtual Field Trips and Guides and a new Geology Online page full of links to resources created by numerous other organisations, including videos, images, online field guides, 3d models, virtual field trips and even some tongue in cheek content from YouTube.

Our Virtual Field Trips page include access to online versions of our popular Rocks and Landscape Guides, links to Paul Hildreth’s series of narrated video guides to the Geology of Flamborough Head, and links to a portfolio of virtual geology tours in Google Earth and other platforms. The first of the virtual tours reprises a real YGS Geology and Poetry field trip to Widdop Moor in September 2019.  UPDATE: we have just launched our second tour, Staithes to Port Mulgrave, plus a Guide to the Geology of the Great Whin Sill and Hadrians’ Wall (produced by a University of Newcastle student project), and a geological walk to view the fabulous stonework in Hull Spring Bank Cemetery. Head over to our Virtual Field Trips and Guides page to view.

We are keen to encourage members to provide more online geology content for these pages, if you are willing to offer any material please Contact Us
