An Introductory Guide to the Geology of the Great Whin Sill and Hadrian's Wall - by Caitlin Leverett

During the Covid-19 lockdown, the University of Newcastle tasked their first-year Earth Science students to produce some field guides to classic geological localities in the Northumberland National Park and adjacent areas. Their brief was to use detailed information already published in the Northumberland National Park Geodiversity Audit, the YGS Field Guide to Northumbrian Rocks and Landscape and other online publications and convert this into a geological guide aimed at a general public readership.

A prize of two years’ student membership of YGS was awarded by the University to Caitlin Leverett, the author of the best adjudicated project. We are delighted to feature this excellent guide on our website.
