Climate change, sea level rise and ocean acidification are now inevitable:

is there a role for geoengineering?

Webinar by

Dr Nick Riley MBE, YGS President.
14th April 2022, 7:30 pm

Anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions are still rising and it is now inevitable that even if we reduce future emissions to “net-zero”, at a rapid rate, the inertia from our cumulative emissions will cause global warming, sea level rise, and ocean acidification to continue for many centuries into the future. Is it possible to use geoengineering options to try and moderate these processes? What choices do we have? How do they compare with each other? This talk will cover various proposals such as sending devices into orbit, seeding clouds, air capture of carbon dioxide, land and soil management, hydropower generation, mineral sequestration, ocean fertilisation, and geological storage.

Please note that this webinar will not be streamed live on YouTube.

But don’t worry if you miss it, it will be uploaded to YouTube to view for a period of time after the event.
