Aims & Eligibility

The YGS Postgraduate Conference Fund will support a conference organised by a group of applicants who are registered on a postgraduate programme, at least the lead applicant of which should be from our region. We intend that this nucleus will allow an international meeting on the chosen theme to assemble, providing a unique forum for the applicants to discuss and present their own research and that of their peers; an opportunity to build personal networks, CV-developing experience in grant acquisition, activity leadership and community activity.

The topic is as far as possible open to the Applicants to justify, aside from that it can be considered inside the big tent of Geoscience as currently recognised. If applicants are concerned about the eligibility of the topic or their Department, they should contact our Grants Secretary

Funding Available

The fund will pay for venue hire as well as transport / accommodation / subsistence costs for up to 3 Convenors from the applicant group, and up to 2 Key Note Speakers from the UK or Europe. We will also support logistical planning, advertising and provide general support for the Convenors and their wider team.

How to apply

The call for applications in 2021 has been extended, with a revised closing date of 31st October. Applications received after this date will not be considered.

Applications should be submitted by email using the form below, and include a CV or resumé of the Applicants and letters of Support from nominated Key Note Speakers showing their engagement

Applicants are also asked to provide the name and contact details of one or more referees, who Council may wish to contact to verify the availability of third party resources, facilities or support that may be required for the successful delivery of the proposed project or activity.

Successful applicants will be notified within 4-6 weeks of the submission deadline.  Funding may be carried over to the next round if there are no successful applications.
