Field Guide to the Geology of Graves Park, Sheffield
Graves Park is Sheffield’s largest public park and an ideal place to learn the basics of geological mapping and coalfield geology. The Park was used for many years by the British Geological Survey as a training ground for its mapping geologists. YGS visited the Park in both 2018 and 2019 for field trips, led by Andy Howard and Colin Waters. Their Field Guide to the Geology of Graves Park is now available, go to our Virtual Field Trips page to view.

Due to ongoing safety considerations and restrictions on participant numbers, our AGM will now be held as a stand-alone online event. The President’s Address, Medal and Award presentations and President’s Dinner will now be held as a separate themed event in 2021.

We are delighted to announce that Paul Wignall, Professor of Palaeoenvironments at the University of Leeds, has accepted our President’s invitation to take on the role of Chief Editor for the PYGS with effect from our December 2020 AGM.
